The only thing I had to do is install LCDproc & LCDd and then change the 
LCDd's config to setup Driver=imon and that was it.
Just enable the lcd support in the frontend and you're home free.

I tried with both the imon VFD that came with my 3R Systems HTPC case 
and a standalone IMON VFD (the one with a know to the right),
and this method worked flawlessly.
