I am using mythtv version 0.21.20080304-1 on Ubuntu Hardy with all
updates install.
MythTV has become confused about how many tuner cards I have, and
complete removal and reinstallation hasn't solved the problem
It thinks I have three tuners, when in fact I only have had two, but it
will only access one!
The story is:
I had two PCI HTDV capture cards installed, but they kept overheating.
So I removed one card and the system works fine, however, I didn't want
to live with only one capture card.
So I plugged in a USB HDTV tuner. The logs show it is recognised an
installed by ubuntu. Much to my surprise the backend showed it
automatically as DVB1 (which is what the second PCI card had been before
I removed it) without me having to add it, and displayed the correct
device description of the USB tuner.
However, the frontend wouldn't access the USB tuner, rather would only
display TV from the PCI tuner card.
So I uninstalled Mythtv using Synaptic Packaged Manager "Complete
Removal", then reinstalled it hoping that it would forget about the
previous installation, and went through all of the backend set up steps.
including adding the PCI and USB tuners in the relevant section without
any problems.
However, the frontend still won't access the USBdevice, despite the
backend showing it as installed correctly.
Also, I noticed that the frontend Information Centre / System Status /
Tuner Cards lists THREE tuner cards, when in fact I only have two (one
PCI card and one USB).
How do I get Mythtv for forget that a second PC was ever installed, and
to allow the frontend to access the signal from the USBdevice?
John
