[mythtv-users] MythTV and the "average" user...

One other trick that might be useful is another piece of hardware, a
composite input switch from Radio Shack.  If you split your signal out of
the set-top box, run one line through the Myth box into the switch and one
directly into the switch.  Run the output of the switch to the TV.  The
switch is normally on "Myth" so the TV displaying the Myth system, and if
something goes wrong with Myth, they switch to "Normal" input and can use
their set-top box remote to watch TV the old fashioned way until you get a
chance to fix Myth.  I guess you should also allow them to simply disable
the irblaster (with an inline switch) so the backend doesn't try to change
channels if it's still running.  Or just tell them to switch the switch to
"Normal", turn off the Myth PC, and call you.
