If you haven't set up XRANDR it's not on.

Questions/suggestions:
-Try playing a dvd
-try playing a downloaded widescreen movie file
-is it missing some of the picture on the left side, right side, or neither
(eg squished)
-what capture resolution are you using for the PVR500?
