On the AMS Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ CPU:
I can play ITV HD on XP with the odd dropped frame with mplayer
classic + the latest ffdshow (interestingly the ffdshow decoder uses
the libavcodec from ffmpeg; maybe ffmpeg can be forced to play ITV HD
on linux too.)- as I said previously, it only uses one core at 100%
CoreAVC on XP + mplayer plays ITV HD perfectly at around 30% per cpu
core. Had a late night night last night trying to patch coreavc for
linux into mythtv with no luck; will try again today.
My feeling is that ffmpeg needs a tweak to recognise the H.222
container since ffshow can recognise and play it; I would hope then
that the latest ffmpeg would play ITV HD multithreaded much as it does
BBC HD.
Until this happens, I'm going to try to get CoreAVC working in my
mythbuntu frontend. Will keep you all posted
John
