[mythtv-users] Is network required for single frontend/backend machine?

You should be able to ping the B/E machine from the F/E machine, if they
are separate machines.
I'm not sure what you are doing with your Windows box, so I don't know
if your inability to ping it is a problem.
It sounds as though AP isolation may be enabled in your router.
