Same here with the packaged lirc-modules-source and a patch from: 
http://codeka.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=50

IR works, VFD doesn't :S
The other way I got it working before, but both at the same time 
doesn't. I'm not that much of a programmer that I know how to solve this :(
