I may or may not be having a related issue. Since upgrading to 8.10,
I've noticed that I get some slow/delayed behaviour, particularly when
I'm watching live TV or a recording. I'd occasionally find that
instructions from the remote (volume adjustment, calling up the guide)
would take a while to kick in...and by a while, I mean several
seconds; at least ten in one case.

I do not see anything unusual in terms of RAM usage. It runs close to
the wire (I have a gig), but when I first set the box up I had two
gigs, and found it ran close to the wire then, so I concluded it just
expanding to fill the available space. Rather like I do with my hard
drive space.

I can also hear the fans revving up which has suggested to me that
there's an unusual level of CPU activity. It's the sound I would hear
when I kicked off an encoding job, but no such job was running at the
time.

I don't know if the lag and CPU activity are related. I've been
watching a recorded news program, and have been watching a top run.
The rev in fans seems to coincide with a CPU spike in the Xorg
process. I seem to be able to provoke the spike by hitting a lot of
buttons, but the lagging does not happen consistently when the CPU
fires up.

Ideas and advice welcome.

Cheers.
