I was aware of a stuttering thread dealing with 720p but I wasn't
following it very closely since I didn't think it was the same
problem. The symptoms of your problem, however, sound jsut like mine
although I'm using analog output instead of SPDIF.

FWIW, I am actually recording off of cable too. Time Warner recently
made a change in my area where (AFAICT) the MPEG data sent over cable
is identiical to that sent OTA. That's when the NBC problem started
showing up for me. The audio underrun problem with Fox started about
the same time, too.

I had audio underrun problems long ago with Fox when testing with an
antenna and assumed this underrun problem was the same old underrun
problem. Until a few weeks ago, I hadn't recorded anything off of Fox
all summer so it's entirely possible the problem is with newer
versions of Myth. Unfortunately, I don't have any old Fox recordings
to test with.

I will try the patch tonight. Thanks for pointing it out.
