[mythtv-users] FE connects, but doesn't...

I have a newly installed FE running Mythbuntu 8.04 on an Asus EEE Box.
 My Backend has been functioning beautifully for quite a while.  I
made the necessary modifications to allow external connections to
mysql on the BE and that still works fine.  However, the FE connects,
but doesn't.  By that I mean that I can use the Control Center to Test
the MySQL connection with the appropriate IP, username, password, and
database name and I get a "Success" report.  However, when I try to
use the FE ("Watch Recordings" or just about anything else), I find
that it is unable to connect to the mysql database.  It seems odd that
the test connection works fine, but really using it doesn't.  I can
also use the command line from the frontend to easily establish a
connection to the mysql database on the BE.  Any ideas?
