Ok.
When I disable compiz the problem is solved.

When I had the nvidia 7800 on a lesser computer with compiz there was no
problem.

Does anyone know of an issue with nvidia 8800gtx/Compiz/mythtv. Is this
related to the lack of XvMC. Is there a setup item
in xorg.conf that I am missing?
