My solution for this is video2ipod.pl.

Basically, on select show I run a userjob that triggers video2ipod.pl.  
I have that script configured to transcode video, put it into an http- 
accessible directory and automatically create a video podcast based on  
the videos in the directory. Then, I subscribe to the feed with iTunes  
and can watch select videos from anywhere.

Not exactly what you requested, but it's my solution to the "I have  
lots of video somewhere and I want to watch some of it somewhere else."
