[mythtv-users] won't record 2nd DVB card

another update to this problem, it seems now to be a problem with MythTV and my 2nd tuner.
I've tested DVB card using Mplayer

eg mplayer -msglevel all=6 dvb://2@"WIN TV Canberra"

and it plays fine, but when I set mythtv to prefer this tuner it just refuses to record, 
I've been using this card for the last 2 years.

Where would I be getting errors in this playback device. ie what would cause this DVB-T 
card now to fail?
