I do the same...
I used to create the FreeBSD way a partition for /var /usr and /
I've just ordered 5 , 1.5TB Seagate drives to replace my existing disk
collection.
Will set them in RAID with mdadm and LVM formatted with JFS.
Currently I am running 2x 750GB + 1TB ; they're all made to appear as
a unique drive with LVM (no RAID) and the first two (both WD) shows
over 500 smart errors...
Funny thing is that 5 x 1.5TB will cost half 4 x 2TB , and gives me
the same available size: 6TB
