VDPAU isn't officially supported in .21-fixes. It won't be enabled or
working unless you have actually applied the patches to backport VDPAU
support to .21-fixes or you have installed the patched version from
jean-yves ubuntu repositories. See here about getting the patches or

Once you have the right version of mythtv installed you will need to
setup a playback profile as described in the VDPAU wiki page. If you
want to make sure it is working you would only use VDPAU in your
playback profile with no other decoder/renderer for fallback. Then if
VDPAU isn't working then the playback will fail. Also as always you
can look at your mythfrontend logs.
