Is this cable? If so, make sure you have the correct default setup (us-cable 
and not us-bcast), make sure you have got your card input(s) mapped properly.

Do you have your listing source set up and can get your lineups? Make sure you 
have a source for the input you are using, that would explain the inability 
to get to the default channel.

One thing, if you don't complete the setup screens (in other words just ESC 
out) the changes won't get written, watch out for that and be sure to get 
to "finish" with each set of menus.

Not seeing the capture card could be a permission problem, check the 
permissions on the /dev/video* devices, I've seen this cause problems. Look 
at your udev rules if the permissions seem wrong, or check who is running the 
myth apps.

If you had Mythbuntu working you should be OK, I'm not sure if Mythbuntu uses 
the standard mythtv-setup or not, but Myth shoul dbehave more or less the 
same no matter what it's running on.
