I really don't  know.  You might try timing it and see if it is exactly the
same time between flickers or random.  That might be a clew.  All I can
guess is some buffer overflow on the TV.  That would be very periodic I
would think.  You might also try twinview with the monitor and see if the
two pictures stay in sync or if one gets ahead then goes in sync after the
flicker, then progresses to an out of sync, etc.
