/bin/true is a program that does nothing and returns a successful exit 
code.  So nothing happens but Myth believes the channel change 
succeeded.  Its opposite counterpart is /bin/false.

The man pages put it more succinctly:

"true - do nothing, successfully"

"false - do nothing, unsuccessfully"
