I too am using pxelinux with Gentoo. Here is my line
APPEND root=/dev/nfs rw ip=dhcp
nfsroot=192.168.1.101:/diskless/ionitx,tcp,rsize=131072,wsize=131072,nfsvers
=3

It too is all one line, and mine works fine.
