You need a TV encoder chip.  No chip, no composite.  A cable isn't going
to help if there's nothing on the mothership end to connect to.

AFAIK, ION doesn't have an interface to a tv encoder; they focused on
digital only (I'd love to be proven wrong.)

You can test that by turning on verbose logging in X, and then see if it
finds a tv encoder interface.  It will tell you it found the interface
even if the chip is not installed; it will issue a warning that says it
can't find an encoder.

I don't have access to my intel box right now but I can post a sample
Xorg.0.log snippet showing the encoder bits.
