A clarification: True, the output from the mpeg encoder half of the 
HVR-1600 is a stream with the audio and video mixed together. This you 
can listen to and see with VLC.  But the input to the HVR-1600 still 
requires cables.   In the backend setup for the mpeg encoder, I selected 
Default Input: S-Video1  That is fed from my Dish Sat Receiver S-video 
out via an S-Video cable.  HVR-1600 stereo input  (Red and White RCA 
phono Jacks) are fed from the corresponding Left(white) and Right(red) 
Stereo outputs from the back of the Dish Receiver.  In the Backend Setup 
Capture Card, Capture Card Setup,  Card Type:  I selected IVTV MPEG-2
