You are correct. I tried before with a HDMI TV connected, but I did not
pass the correct options to mplayer for hw passthrough. Since then the
TV has gone back to its home and I tried again without a HDMI TV
attached to the machine.

I may take the machine home and connect to my TV over the weekend, but
it just depends on if I am caught up on school work.
