[mythtv-users] Connecting to PVR-500 S-Video???

Ok. I shoulda known it wouldn't be easy after working with MythTV for
a couple of years now, but hope springs eternal.

Despite the discussions about the whys and wherefores that have gone
before, I wanted to try converting my VHS tapes to MythTV digital
files, so I hooked up the S-video and audio outputs of my VCR to the
connectors on the back panel of the PVR-500 (not the expansion plate
for the second tuner) and went to work.

I stopped mythbackend and went into mythtvsetup and added a source and
made a connection in turns to channel one of the PVR-500 for the
listed S-Video1 input and then the S-Video2 input. Then I tried the
same thing with the second tuner's inputs. I defined the connection
as having no guide source and did not define or scan for channels
(what for -- it's the S-Video input ;-) ). Mind you, I didn't
disturb the existing tuner connections during this process.

After each connection change, I exited mythtvsetup, restarted
mythbackend and then started mythfrontend to try it out. None of the
four would work with a videotape playing on the VCR when I went to
live video and toggled tuners with "Y" and inputs with "C", although
the input would pause for just a fraction on the tuner that
temporarily had the definition for an input on an S-Video connection.

So, where did I go wrong, now that I have torn it all back down in
preparation for recording tonight's broadcast shows?

Craig.
