That's not quite true. I am as upset as the next guy about this
situation and think it's a dumb move on NBC/Fox's part. But Boxxee is
not "just another browser". A browser is a program than renders HTML.
Boxxee didn't do this. It took Hulu's content, and organized it in a
whole new user interface that looked nothing like the original format.
It had the same set of "menu items" across the top, more or less, but
otherwise organized the content in a completely different way. This is
a lot more than say, just applying a different CSS template or
something.

I would hasten to point out, however, that hulu's HTML presentation
(i.e. what you see at hulu.com) contains *no* ads (the ads are all in
the video stream). So it was not a case of Boxxee depriving hulu of
their ad revenue.

Hi Jon,

Yep you are totally right.

It seems most people including the Boxee developers and the VC
supporting them don't get the distinction that they are modifying to
content.

I've been trying to point out why moving elements on the Hulu site
aren't the same as a browser but they are deaf to my comments.

Having said that as the initiator of this discussion I think we can
finish it with this post as there is nothing else really to discuss.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out but to give people
overseas a break so they don't have to listen anymore....yes this topic
is closed.

Cheers,
Dean
