it would be nice if this stuff was actually in the documentation and not
hidden in a mailing list archive (and contradicted by other posts in the
same mailing list archive).
the manual is the official word. stuff on mailing lists is opinion and
commentary and anecdotes...some of it very useful and accurate, some of
it ill-informed, misguided and dangerous: "caveat googlor"
the only mention of mythjobqueue in the manual is a few paragraphs at
section 23.25 - there's no mention anywhere in the manual that tunerless
backends are unsupported, or that mythjobqueue should be used instead of
mythbackend if no tuners are installed.
not even http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Mythjobqueue mentions that,
and http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/User_Manual:Detailed_configuration_Backend
just says "Each backend can have any number of tuners."
i'll look into running mythjobqueue on the tunerless machines rather
than a full BE.
(until this thread, i didn't even know it existed. myth BE has been
working fine for me on machines without tuner cards)
