I know; I wrote the original code that made them equivalent![1]
That said, the feature you mistakenly described sounds pretty nifty,
doesn't it? I, for one, would love to be able to, during playback, use
the otherwise-useless CHANNELDOWN and CHANNELUP bindings to quickly
move up and down multiple recordings; a sort of on-the-fly playlist,
if you will.
Come to think of it, this would be useful for naviating actual
playlists, too. Ideally, the feature would work like this:
* If there's a playlist, CHANNELDOWN and CHANNELUP navigate through
it.
* Otherwise, use whatever group view the first playback was launched
from. If within the _How I Met Your Mother_ title group, navigate
through just those episodes (and, of course, follow the current
Setup|TV Settings|Playback|Episode sort orderings/Sort Episodes
setting). If within Watch List, use that. If within "Default" or
"All Programs," use those. Etc., etc.
