I only recently started adding patches once I became aware of the season/ep
update for mythvideo. After that I then decided to apply the upsample as
well. Previously, I was just using trunk unpatched.
Your way is certainly better for versioning with patches, but if not
applying patches, the way I am doing it is definitely less work as you said.
Also, I have never had trouble with downloading from SVN, so I have never
seen a reason for tarballs. But, I am aware of people who do have issues on
occasion.
