I usually buy Gskill. The following RAM works fine for me.

 It boots with both DIMMs installed, 4G total. Overkill, I know. I'm
planning on buying a 2nd on (prob a single-core) later, and I'll just put
one DIMM in each.

I'm currently using VGA-out, and my board's not in a case yet either.
Everything booted fine on the first try.
