I also recently bought a Harmony 880 (also refurbished, but from
newegg). And I love it. My girlfriend can now use myth/dvd/wii/etc
unassisted, so GAF has definitely gone up.

It was a lot easier to set up than I thought it would be. I spent
about an hour the first day programming it (in linux, more on that
later), and about 10 minutes (total) since then, tweaking buttons. I
have some minor gripes about the physical buttons on the remote - the
placement of some isn't as convenient as I think it should be, and
most of the buttons have a non-descript feel. But after using it for
a few months I rarely have to look at it anymore, so I guess they are
descript enough.

As for linux, I was able to program it pretty easily using Congruity
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/congruity/) which is a frontend for
Concordance (http://www.phildev.net/harmony/). Getting that set up
and working correctly took about 20 minutes.

Good luck!
