Could be that it emulates a USB keyboard. I have a MCE remote (Holtek)
that does that. These are actually quite good because you don't have
to worry about getting LIRC to work - it detects it as a USB device.

If it does emulate a keyboard you can find out what keypress commands
it send by running xev. Also, you might find this useful -
