JFS is journaled and fsck will check and fix error at boots if any.

The only time I lost files with JFS after a power outage is when my
drive got physically damage by the sudden loss of power.
I found some utilities that repaired most of them and I exchanged the
drive after that (thanks to LVM, replacing a drive was very simple)

JFS is an excellent all-rounder operating system ... That it's really
good at handling big files doesn't mean it's crap at handling small
ones :)

I'm using XFS on RAID5 for my media partition.
4x500GB, only 1.4TB usable, but fast and fault tolerant.
