It's no big deal to emerge xdm and attempt starting it. The bigger
deal going this way is that it assumes a good xorg.conf file, the
right video drivers, and a lot of stuff that's untested. In fact, when
I did this I got a messed up display - bad resolution or monitor rates
- but it doesn't display and I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with
video drivers at all on this machine. This new hald stuff seems to
have automatically loaded radeon and drm but it doesn't work. Black

I don't understand this last comment about config.xml. How does that
get created, or am I supposed to supply it. In the past it seemed that
you ran the frontend, you gave it an IP address and it found the
server. When you exited the .mythtv directory was created and off you
go. Is that different now?
