Probable bad netiquette to re-visit a year-old thread, but I just wanted to
endorse the YouTube video cited, which shows in details how to build an HD
antenna using coat hanger wire.  I had all of the parts on-hand, and was
able to build the antenna in a single morning.  I mounted the antenna inside
the house and connected it to the ATSC input of my Hauppauge HVR-1600 card,
and ran a channel scan as recommended on
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-1600.  The card was able to find
all 12 virtual channels predicted by antennaweb.org, including one that's
34.1 miles away that I didn't really expect to work.

Having said that, this is definitely an antenna you don't want to be highly
visible.  My ultimate goal is to run coax to my attic and put the antenna up
there, but for now it's in an inconspicuous place in my wife's office
(inconspicuous to me, anyway, since I'm rarely in there ... 8^)
