Hi all....

I have been playing with MythMusic, trying to set up playlists. Maybe I'm
in the minority here, but I organize my music by directory as follows:

[mythtv at vader: ~]$ lsl /audio
total 176
drwsrwsrwx  2 mythtv disk    36864 2009-08-27 08:00 60-70/
drwsrwsrwx  9 mythtv disk     4096 2008-05-25 22:03 incoming/
drwx------  2 root   root    16384 2009-03-18 20:26 lost+found/
drwxrwsrwx  2 mythtv disk    40960 2006-08-15 06:29 Top500RockSongs/
drwsrwsrwx  3 mythtv disk     4096 2009-08-20 21:55 Buffett/
drwxrwxrwx 14 root   disk     4096 2009-09-08 21:58 ./
drwsrwsrwx  2 mythtv disk     4096 2008-03-04 20:31 Celtic/
drwsrwsrwx  2 mythtv disk     4096 2009-08-22 09:54 Country/
drwsrwsrwx  2 mythtv disk     4096 2002-12-12 22:07 Techno/
drwsrwsrwx  2 mythtv disk     4096 2006-06-21 22:09 Reggae/
drwsrwsrwx  2 mythtv disk    36864 2009-08-20 23:20 80-90-00/
drwxr-xr-x 38 root   root     4096 2009-11-17 08:13 ../
drwsrwsrwx  2 mythtv disk     4096 2009-01-18 23:27 xmas/

All the stuff in "60-70" and "80-90-00" is rock of most all genres from
those decades.

I like to set up playlists which just include each directory individually,
and some which might be combinations of several directories, e.g.:

RockMix1 = 60-70 + 80-90-00
RockMix2 = RockMix1+ Top500RockSongs
Mix3 = RockMix2 + Buffett + Reggae

etc.

Many of my mp3 files were ripped from my own CDs and the ID3 tags often
don't have the right years (for example, if they were ripped from a
"Greatest Hits" disc, or Grip might have assigned the wrong genre, etc.).
Even some of the files I buy from Amazon often get these wrong, so that's
why I group 'em by directory.

The playlist editor/selector has improved quite a bit from 0.21 but still
lacks the ability to select files by directory. I'd like to request this
as a feature in 0.23... ;-)

Does anyone else out there do it this way, or am I just an oddity? ;-)

By the way - thanks for the option to upmix to 5.1...sounds much better!

Thanks
Bob
