This might (possibly) even allow the "tablet version" to drop a lot of
the frontend's code if all it needs to do is control what will be
displayed on another frontend. Which in turn could decrease the number
of dependencies to install... :)

While reading the first part of your message, I was thinking about
mythtomer for the control, but then you mentioned it :) I have it
installed but almost never use it; I find the remote displayed on the
tablet's screen to be nearly unusable (the arrow keys, in particular,
are in a very awkward arrangement). And I agree, it doesn't take
advantage of the nature of the device.
