To follow up on the above, I have again done a scan using the full
freeview.xmltv obtained from running the tv_grab_uk_rt program separately as
previously suggested. The results of this are that the scan appears to work,
but for each and every channel the setup utility reports "No Lock" and then
shows signal strength between 25 and 100%, Signal/Noise of between 50% and
about 100%. For each and every channel it reports in the log "Timeout
Scanning offset 1 -- no signal" and "Timeout Scanning offset 2 -- no signal"

The backend log tells me the following:-

Connection timed out.
You probably should modify the Master Server settings in the setup program
and set the proper IP address.
Error rescheduling id -1 in ScheduledRecording::signalCHange
Connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:6543 (try 1 of 5)
Connection timed out
You probably should modify the Master Server settings in the setup program
and set the proper IP address.
Mythfilldatabase run complete
DataDirect: Deleting temporary files

What does all the above tell me? How do I get mythtv to scan successfully
(again Kaffeine manages to show live TV without ANY problem).
