[mythtv-users] gentoo ebuild overlays

One question: There's a possibility I might have a few custom patches
of my own that I'd want in my overlay ebuilds. Am I correct that, if
I made any such changes in my overlay, I'd simply have to make sure to
re-add those changes if I do a layman sync? I figured that's all that
would be involved.

Thanks! Now I'm looking forward to the 0.22 upgrade much more than I was
;).

Yes, you would have to reapply your changes and then do a digest of the
modified ebuilds each time you did a layman refresh. Thou I am not sure if
you could do a refresh after making your own changes. Might want to check on
that.

I am not planning to make any changes to the fixes branch, unless there is a
patch that gets applied that breaks it. New features that have patches on
trac can be requested to be added and I will consider it, however, I will
not be running the fixes branch so support may be spotty. I would however be
happy to add another maintainer if they are willing to keep it current with
any patches that get added.

If you are looking at trunk on the other hand, I may add patches into that
as new features get added into trac but not merged yet. Again, requests can
be made and I will look into applying them. I have always used trunk myself
so this one will almost always be up to date.

And as always you could branch of on your own after you get the ebuilds from
me.
