If you are using 8.04 LTS you sound like someone who might value their
stability. In either case you may want to add the mythbuntu
repository. They have an apt link that will add their repository to
your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ for you here:
http://www.mythbuntu.org/auto-builds. If you add their repository you
won't have to actually run any mythbuntu specific stuff, but it will
give you the up to date builds of .21-fixes. There have been a lot of
fixes since the packages that are included in the 8.04 standard
repositories were released. You may also want to try installing
mythbuntu-control-centre. That is a really nice easy way to add,
remove, and automatically configure various mythtv features.
