Oddly enough, MythCenter-wide (and other themes whose internal pages
looks OK on Watch Recordings on my setup despite my using the Short
Date format of Day MM/DD (it's never made sense to me to not show the
day of the week); since MythCenter is among those themes that have not
been updated beyond the top menus
(<URL:http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/theming/403201#403201>),
this holds true for others such as Mythbuntu.

On the other hand, that date format causes all themes to mangle the
times in Upcoming Recordings due to its length. Similar problems occur
in certain other themes and pages as I also use a Date format of Day
DD Mmm; I don't know if the new MythUI permits columns and other
display fields to be widened or narrowed based on the length of the
printed text within, but if it does the current themes do not take
advantage of the ability.

This is due to the combination of the widget and theme choices. The
Windows widget setting is, in my experience, the most visible on most
themes, but is not perfect; in Terra spinbox buttons are highlighted
properly but other buttons and checkboxes aren't, for example.

This perhaps belongs in mythtv-theming or mythtv-dev, but threads like
this and the one Ken referenced show that the widget setting really
should be abolished; if widgets are to be varied at all, the theme
ought to control the setting. (I've never seen the point in Linux
window managers offering a bazillion widget options, either. (And yes,
I do happen to use OS X for my day-to-day computing needs!))
