I will take a look at this possibly later tonight. I am on gentoo as
well and I do have a dvb card that I have setup for multiplex and I
have briefly tested that in the past however I do not use that since
over 90% of my recordings are still analog.

I am not using either of the versions in portage however. I am using
my own vdpau patched version 20744 that is in my overlay.
