The Best Buy near me does sell the pinnacle mce remote kit, which  
works with the mceusb lirc driver. Its grossly overpriced though  
(can't remember how badly, but it was bad).

Heh, nice. For those not fortunate enough to get one handed to you buy  
Best Buy for free, you're better off ordering one of the kits from  
newegg or amazon that run $20-30, or going the eBay route.

Man, I'd certainly hope so. Quite frankly, I think those tiny grey  
hauppauge remotes are worthless trash. I don't actually use any of my  
mce remotes either (I use a Logitech Harmony 880), but they're  
definitely way better than the hauppauge ones.
