In this case we are discussing using a CableCard to tune cable TV
channels which we already PAY MONEY FOR. That is nothing like you are
saying people expect to get "everything for free". I expect to get
exactly (and fully) what I pay for.

The whole restrictive CableCard thing is just like the FBI warning on
VHS/DVD recordings. The FBI warning tells you not to pirate the
movie. But the ONLY time I am forced to watch the FBI warning is
after I have already paid money to LEGALLY buy or rent the movie.
Pirated copies don't include the FBI warning. So the only people
seeing the FBI warning are the law abiding customers.

Same with all the restrictions placed on the use of CableCards. The
only reason to have CableCard tuner support on a computer is to
watch/record cable TV (which is paid for by the computer owner). Why
would anybody in the cable TV industry want to discourage people from
buying/using cable TV?
