[mythtv-users] Recording issues - Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB and Hauppauge 1600

My setup seems to be working very well with a couple of minor issues and I was
wondering if anyone else using these cards might be experiencing this issues
or if someone has any ideas on how to resolve them.

1. I have two Hauuppauge WinTV-PVR-USB tuners attached to my master backend.
With one of the tuners I get some major audio feedback on the recordings, but
only if there happens to be a lot of background type audio. (background music,
scene is in a loud club or in an outdoor setting.) If the scene is just normal
dialog then it seems to play and record just fine.

The other tuner records just fine, so I guess it could be a failing tuner, but
on the off chance that it isn't I was wondering if there are any other
settings that are per tuner based that I might try and tweak to remove the
feedback.

2. On the 1600 that is attached to my slave backend, every time I record with
it, the recording are jumpy and jerky. Watching the recording and it will
"skip" 10-15 seconds ahead in the recording. This is not like the commercial
flagging, this appears to be actual missing frames. Now the slave is recording
it's recordings to an NFS share onto the master backend. My gut tells me that
this might be the issue and maybe I should change the storage area for the
slave to be local on the slave.

If I do this, are there going to be ramifications to having access to all the
recordings on the front ends? I don't mind having my recordings split into two
different drives as long as it remains seamless on the front ends, if that is
possible. If that isn't possible does anyone have any other solutions? I
really would like to get the slave tuner working properly as I want to add one
more card to the slave, but if I can't get the 1600 working properly then it
is a waste of time and money.

Thanks,

-Eric
