Usually not, although regressions in open-source drivers are fairly
common.  That makes it a sort of "choose your poison" situation.  If you
have an open-source driver that's part of the kernel you have to roll back
the whole kernel, whereas with the NVIDIA drivers you can usually roll
back just the driver if need be.

My MythTV machine is behind a firewall, so kernel upgrades are a pretty
rare event for me, anyway.
