When working properly, pressing any key on the BD Remote will cause it 
to reconnect (under a second), and the keypress will be 
remembered/processed.  (Note, IdleTimeout in the Bluetooth input.conf is 
in seconds, not minutes as it was previously.)

It sounds a little like you have a pairing issue with the remote.  My 
suggestion would be to "apt-get install blueman", and use it to pair the 
remote properly.   Once properly paired, you should be able to watch the 
remote time out, and reconnect on key-press in blueman.  I don't believe 
kbluetooth lets you pair the remote control.

Also, remember the remote can only be pair to one system at a time... so 
don't try to share it with a PS3.
