I am running an Acer Revo 1600 with a 720p display on HDMI on
MythBuntu 9.10 and it is working.

Lets check your Xorg.0.log file at /var/log

Also when you ssh in - be sure to run 'export DISPLAY=:0.0' and then
try running nvidia-xconfig or anything else - this will make it attach
to the display on the remote machine. (The acer)

xrandr is a good command to find out what resolution and refresh rate
you're in but you'll get an error if you don't export your DISPLAY
variable first.
