If A is the list of channels available on DVB-S, and B is the list of
channels available on DVB-S2, you should create 2 video sources:

Source #1 contains A, and is for DVB-S-only inputs
Source #2 contains A and B, and is for DVB-S/S2 inputs

Correct.

Each scan will detect the same multiplexes, but as the channel/mux
settings are separate for each video source, there will be some
duplication in the channel and dtv_multiplex tables. This is to be
expected and is not a problem.

In order for the scheduler to make best use of channels available on
both video sources, you need to ensure that the callsigns for each
instance of the same channel across all video sources (and having the
same listings) are the same. E.g.:

Source #1 contains channel BBC1 - callsign can be BBC1
Source #2 contains channel BBC1 - callsign must be BBC1 for the
scheduler to consider it the same as BBC1 on source #1

To improve the display of channel listings in the mythfrontend/MythWeb
EPGs, make sure that these "similar" channels also have the same
channel number and name. This will hide "copies" of the same channel,
and make greatly shorten the list of channels in the EPG when there is
much overlap across video sources.

Absolutely.

Cheers,
Nick
