I didn't:

[root at confusion lirc]# dmesg | fgrep outbound
lirc_mceusb: acceptable outbound endpoint found

So am I just stuck now? Do I have bad hardware, or is there something
about this particular version of the device that doesn't work with the
driver (in either case maybe I should order an Iguanaworks IR blaster?)
Or is there something further I can do to debug this?
