That's the exact Plasma setup I have - 720P with 1024x768 pixels (rectangular 
pixels), a Panasonic TH-42PX7A, I'm driving it with Mythbuntu 9.10 and an 
NVidia card.

I didn't need to configure any modelines at all, the system automatically 
picked it up. I think its actually using a resolution of 1280x720 rather than 
the native resolution, certainly it looks excellent.


I think its a mistake to assume you should use the native resolution of the 
TV, its actually designed to accept 720p/1080p and its internal electroncis 
will do a much better job of scaling and interpolating etc, probably much 
better than the mythbox can.
