The Mythbuntu distribution does not (by default) have Compiz enabled.
Ubuntu does, but not Mythbuntu, since it's intention was to be more of
a PVR/DVR solution, not a desktop use type distribution.
You can also look at /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and see if you have the below set:
Section "Extensions"
    Option	"Composite"	"Disable"
